Writer/director Brad Bird celebrates the extraordinary in this super-charged family drama. In a world where superheroes use their gifts to protect others, an even more super-litigious society, distressed at the injuries people have been receiving when superheroes save their lives, forces these superheroes into making their secret identities their only identities. Years later, Bob Parr, a.k.a. Mr. Incredible, struggles through the relatively tedious life of an insurance agent as he provides for his wife and children, all of whom have special powers themselves. When he accepts a mysterious invitation from an anonymous person to undertake a secret mission that will allow him to utilize his superpowers again, he soon finds himself in the middle of his greatest challenge yet, and it will take the combined special powers of his whole family and the love they share for each other to save a world conditioned to celebrate mediocrity. The Incredibles earned Academy Award nominations for Best Original Screenplay and Best Sound Mixing and won Oscars for Best Sound Editing and Best Animated Feature Film.
