Powerful love and forgiveness drive this true story about five Christian missionaries who strive to make contact with the notoriously fierce Waodani tribe in
Ecuador
, which has nearly annihilated itself after generations of blood feuds and bitterness. Shortly after the missionaries find them, Waodani tribesmen slaughter all five missionaries. Fearing reprisals, the Waodani retreat further into the forest. Members of the missionaries’ families, including Nate Saint’s sister Rachel and his young son Steve, seek out the Waodani, and through their love, bravery, and humility, manage to warm their way into the Waodani’s hearts and help end the tribe’s cycle of violence and vengeance. Chad Allen delivers a courageous and heartrending performance as Nate Saint and, later on, as the adult Steve Saint. Louie Leonardo renders a severely intense and forceful portrayal of Mincayani, the Waodani who sees his family slaughtered, spears Nate Saint, and eventually learns to let love seep into his hardened soul. End of the Spear won the Heartland Film Festival’s Grand Prize for Dramatic Feature in 2005.
